The first phase of the project involves installing a total solar capacity of 1MW across six public school campuses in Johannesburg. The local solar energy company is responsible for the installation and management of the project, while the funding is provided by investors and banks. The public schools offer the installation sites and user resources.
This solar energy storage system not only provides daily electricity for the school but also meets the daily power needs of families living within a 5km radius of the school, who can pay their electricity bills monthly through a bank. Each family will be provided with a dedicated bank card, which they can use to pay their electricity bills and purchase essential items, including food, at wholesale prices. As the project is backed by a charitable organization, it aims to address the challenges of expensive and limited electricity access for students' families, while also helping them reduce their cost of living. The solar project holds significant charitable significance for the community surrounding the school.
The school's spacious playground is ideal for the installation of solar panels. According to project requirements, we will install supports at a height of 1.8 meters, allowing students to use the space beneath the solar panels while benefiting from the shade they provide.
The inverters and lithium batteries will be housed in integrated outdoor storage containers, ensuring easy management and safe usage for the school.
Through this solar community project, we are committed to providing reliable and efficient clean energy solutions to the school and the surrounding community, improving their quality of life and promoting sustainable development. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact and social benefits that this project will bring in the future.
